Description
The handle registry (handle.net) provides a flexible, scalable system for managing persistent identifiers. Some preliminary work has been done at DKRZ within EUDAT. There is a proposal to upgrade the CMIP "tracking_id" NetCDF file attribute to a handle identifier, so that it becomes a resolvable entity which can lead directly to information and support additional applications.

A simple demonstration, using files produced by Martin and a dynamic landing page generated by Merrett and Tobias. The demo shows how a landing page can be generated from simple information in the handle database, in this case relating to the existence of newer versions of a file.
