Necessary settings for the Post-processing of MPI-ESM1-2-HR Data

Added by Fabian Wachsmann almost 5 years ago

  1. cdocmorinfo setting
    The following configuration need to be set for all experiments of MPI-ESM1-2-HR Data not least for consistency reasons. It is based on an agreement on values for attributes, control keywords and grid information within DICAD processing for the first CMIP6 experiments.
    1. Attributes:
      further_info_url=https://furtherinfo.es-doc.org/CMIP6.MPI-M.MPI-ESM1-2-HR.<experiment_id>.<sub_experiment_id>.<member>
      contact=cmip6-mpi-esm@dkrz.de
      references="MPI-ESM: Mauritsen, T. et al. (2019), Developments in the MPI‐M Earth System Model version 1.2 (MPI‐ESM1.2) and Its Response to Increasing CO2, J. Adv. Model. Earth Syst.,11, 998-1038, doi:10.1029/2018MS001400,\nMueller, W.A. et al. (2018): A high‐resolution version of the Max Planck Institute Earth System Model MPI‐ESM1.2‐HR. J. Adv. Model. EarthSyst.,10,1383–1413, doi:10.1029/2017MS001217"
      #For MPIOM/HAMOCC
      #NOMINAL_RESOLUTION="50 km"
      #For ECHAM6/JSBACH
      #NOMINAL_RESOLUTION="100 km"
      #

      In that configuration, please substitute <experiment_id>.<sub_experiment_id>.<member> with the correct attributes. As the MPI decided to not use es-doc, we provide a contact mail adress instead via attribute contact. The further_info_url needs to be specified, however, since it is CMIP6 standard. From that link we will forward the data user to the correct documentation. The references cite a recent paper which contains the descriptions of the new developments of MPI-ESM1-2.
    2. control keywords
      t_axis="cmip"
      deflate_level=1
      max_size=0

      The t_axis attribute tells CMOR to set the CMIP requested time values and time bounds for each record based on the input file time values. The deflate_level controls the compression. Max_size=0 sets off the chunk file size control. One file of a time series should contain 5 years for consistency.
